1. POW WOW (VISION QUEST AND COUNTING COUP) REGISTRATION OPENS TOMORROW, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1ST.
Registration for the 2011 Pow Wow (Vision Quest and Counting Coup Events to be held on Saturday, April 2nd), will start next week on October 1st at 12:00 A.M.
We will activate the links on each events page on our web site at that time.
We only offer online registration due to the fact the event quickly sells out online.
The price is $125 for the Vision Quest and $85.00 for the Counting Coup which includes finishing award, t-shirt and post-event food. There are no refunds.
The events sell out in minutes so we encourage you to sign up quickly.
2. POKER RIDE IN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2ND.
Rotary Ridge Trail Events is staging a Mountain Bike Poker Ride this Saturday, October 2, in San Juan Capistrano. This is a non-competitive event intended to celebrate the unique terrain and open space in the hills of SJC, and raise funds to maintain the local trail system and local charities supported by Rotary of SJC….and of course have some fun doing it!
In addition to the poker game there will be great raffle prizes and for winning hand a Garmin 605 GPS system. Also this year, an expanded expo with products and demonstrations.

3. TAKE A KID MOUNTAIN BIKING DAY THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2ND.
October 2, 2010 is this years date for IMBA’s Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day.
This is truly an amazing event that according to IMBA is celebrated globally in the United States, Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan and Mexico.
Last year, more than 167 groups organized events with more than 7,100 kids taking part…making it the largest turn out ever!
This year will mark the 4th year I am planning a local event in Orange County (last year we had over 40 kids participate and more are expected this year) and touching base in this regard.
As part of our event which starts at Irvine Regional Park includes varied MTB rides (Irvine Regional, Peters Canyon and/or Santiago Oaks) based on age/skill we also have a BBQ followed by a free kid’s raffle.
While clearly the event is to install a love of dirt to the groms, it should be no surprise of the huge excitement displayed by the kids during the free raffle.
In the past I have reached out to various local bikes shops and manufacturers; ALL of which have been generous beyond imagination in donating some swag for the free kids raffle.
Last year we had donations from over 13 organizations including but not limited to The Path, Switchback Cyclery, SHARE, SixSixOne, Chumba, Intense, BlkMrkt, REI, etc.
We have had kids as young as one being pulled in trailers up to 15 year old; some of whom totally rip.

4. MOUNTAIN BIKING WITH THE BLIND, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6, AT IRVINE REGIONAL PARK
All funds raised through this event support our mobility and sports programs for blind youth. This is an incredible opportunity for the public to ride with our blind mountain bikers and be inspired! Registration fee is a $25 tax-deductible donation.

5. TRAILS4 ALL INNER COASTAL CLEANUP IN TRABUCO CANYON A SUCCESS!
The Trails4All Inner Coastal Cleanup in Trabuco Canyon was very successful. Because so many Warrior’s Society members participated, it seemed like a club event. Everyone worked very hard. They hauled the usual trash including mattresses, car parts, etc., filling two 40 yard dumpsters in about three hours. It was good to see everyone and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
The Warrior’s Society is truly a team of dedicated individuals.
