1. BLACK STAR CANYON ROAD TO HAVE LIMITED CLOSURES DURING WEEKDAYS

The County of Orange’s OC Public Works Department has awarded a construction contract to replace three deteriorated timber bridges along Black Star Canyon Road. The bridges are located two to three miles north of Silverado Canyon Road along Black Star Canyon road. This road becomes Skyline Drive at the Orange/Riverside County line. This project will improve access for emergency services and the public to the unincorporated County wilderness areas and the Cleveland National Forest.

The road is a narrow, twelve feet to fourteen feet wide dirt road that is currently being used for hiking, biking, fire and emergency access, as well as local property owner access. Black Star Canyon Road will be closed for public hiking and biking use on Mondays thru Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on November 23rd to December 23rd.

No weekend closures are anticipated. For further information on this project, please contact Javier Soto, Manager OC Inspection/Contracts, at (714) 245-4505 or George Zaun at (714) 448-6829.

2. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR 50 MILE RWANDA RIDE VI

Our 6th Annual Rwanda Ride will be held on Saturday April 28, 2012. REGISTRATION is now open! You’re receiving this email because you’re a past event participant or volunteer (or both). We hope you can join us again this year!

Our 6th annual ride will be an event to remember. We say this every year (and we mean it every year too) – our planning team is pulling out all the stops to make your next Rwanda Ride experience your best one EVER! Even more prizes, even more fun. Mark your calendars for April 28 2012. Or better yet, REGISTER TODAY
NEW THIS YEAR – we’ve added a shorter 10 mile route to our event. Riders tell us they love our event for the challenge of riding further than they normally ride – whether that be our full 50 Miler or the 25 Miler. Our new 10 Miler option gives the “casual” mountain biker an opportunity to participate in our event too. We had 631 riders last year – and we want to top 700 this year. The more the merrier – and it’s all for a great Rwanda cause.
