3. SIERRA TRAVEL MANAGEMENT PLAN UPDATE

The Stewards of the Sequoia continues to have meetings with the Sequoia Forest regarding proposed closures of over 500 miles of trails. At our most recent meeting Forest Staff stated they may not have time to review many existing trails during the Route Designation Process.

Yet they intend on releasing a plan before the end of the year to comply with the arbitrary deadline with the Off Highway Motor Vehicle Division.

The Sequoia travel plan will be based on the limited information they have & may require closure of trails they have not reviewed.

Stewards made it clear that the proposed closure of over 500 miles of trails will:

* Increase impacts
* Increase maintenance costs
* Reduce user satisfaction

This was not the intent of the travel management plan.

Your Green Sticker Funds provided over $11 million to do a complete trail review & thorough trail plan, not close trails due to lack of time.

If you want to do something to help stop closures watch this video & take one hour to show it to your legislator before it is too late.
