1. CLUB MEMBER MONIQUE “PUA” SAWICKI UPDATE AND PIT CONTEST

Hey everyone,

First off, Pua and I miss all our great friends in the Warriors Society and So-Cal and we are hoping to come back this Winter and spend our pre season training in Cali with all of you.

Pua’s season has been the most exciting ever and what a shock when Pua won the Everest award for Female Mountain Biker of the Year. The same weekend Pua was able to win the Teva Mountain games hill climb, it was like a dream for both of us!

From there our focus was the Marathon National championships, Pua wanted this but this year we new it would be tougher than ever, with no XC race on the same weekend we expected to see the best of the best. Pua fought hard but in the end she had to settle for second to one of the greatest females in mountain biking, Shonny Vanlandingham. Two days later Pua won the XC race at Crankworx. She went out hard and left the whole pro field behind.

Now the focus is the National 24 hour Solo Championships in Wausau, Wisconsin. Last year we had to pull her out of the race at midnight, she was in so much pain she could not even pedal the bike anymore. She was not healed from the crash in Quebec, only one month earlier. But Now She is healed, strong and extremely, extremely focused.

Finally, we wanted to do something for Pua’s supporters and friends, so we put together the Pua pit Contest.

Win the opportunity to work in the pits as member of Team MATA at the 24 Hours of Adrenalin Solo World Championships in Monterey, CA and help Pua Sawicki attempt to win the World title! Just write a letter telling Pua why you should be the newest member of the team and Pua will pick her favorite entry. More info at:

www.teammata.com/contest.html

Also win over $8,000 dollars worth of bike products that Pua uses to win at the races.

2. BEGINNERS RIDE TO THE MAIN “PAIN” DIVIDE AND BEEK’S PLACE CLEAN-UP

It’s been talked about on many threads and RR’s, Now find out what the “PAIN DIVIDE’ is all about. Warrior’s Society club nominee Gene Frial is leading a group of new riders to Beek’s for their first glimpse of the notorious Main Divide. We’ll also discuss proper bike set up and climbing techniques.

We will meet on Saturday, August 4th at 8 a.m. at Black Star Canyon Rd. just off Santiago Canyon Rd. Park at the entrance to Black Star near iron gate (Vision Quest/Counting Coup starting area). Some may choose to park at the Christmas tree lot which adds a couple miles and is always a good warm-up.

This is a great intro ride. It’s a 8 mile fire road climb with a small descent to Hidden Ranch and a then a short climb up to Beek’s Place. The pace will be moderate and with several regroups. Looks like we may have some Main Divide Veterans coming along. This should be fun. We will leave no one behind!

While at Beek’s we will do our part and police the area for trash. Join us and let’s have a Main Divide Party.

3. WARRIOR’S SOCIETY CLUB MEMBER AND VOLUNTEER EVENTS

Almost weekly club member John Early has been hosting an evening ride for our club members and volunteers. We have a couple of other events planned for our club members and our 2007 volunteers.

We will be having a beach party on Sunday August 12, 2007 at Bolsa Chica and a Hurkey Creek Campout on the weekend of September 8th & 9th. We will need to know possible attendees of the campout by this week so that enough spaces can be reserved.

As a heads up our club Christmas/Thanks Party for our club members and volunteers will be held on Saturday, December 8th.

If you are a Warrior’s Society 2007 trail work or event volunteer, and have not been receiving invitations to our volunteer events, email us and we will put you on the volunteer invite list.

We will be sending out details on the beach party and Hurkey Creek campout as those events near. If you plan on attending the campout we do need your RSVP this week.
