2. CLUB MEMBER MONIQUE “PUA” SAWICKI A FINALIST FOR THE EVEREST AWARD

A few months ago Pua was notified that she had been nominated for and Everest Awards and just yesterday she was notified that she was one of three finalists in the Mountain Bike category.

Dubbed the “Oscars of the Outdoor Industry,” the third annual Everest Awards will celebrate and recognize the top athletes, leaders and achievements in seven different categories. Proceeds from the evening will go to the Waterkeeper Alliance.

The awards (a black tie event) are given at the Gerald R Ford Amphitheater on June 1st at the Teva Mountain Games and the whole thing will be on Nation Wide TV (NBC, CBS & ANC) in over 80% of the households across the nation!

Pua will be also be competing that weekend in the XC race and the road Hill climb.

3. THE JUNE 9TH “THE TRAVERSE” EVENT UPDATE COMING OUT NEXT WEEK

“The Traverse” is just around the corner and we have some exciting news on the event coming out in our “The Traverse” event update next week.

4. SENATOR BOXER AND THE DEMOCRAT MAJORITY IN CONGRESS PUSH LEGISLATION THAT WOULD BAN MOUNTAIN BIKING IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

A Democratic Party Majority in congress has propelled a massive Wilderness bill (sponsored by Senator Barbara Boxer) into motion that, if passed into law unmodified, will permanently block millions of acres of public land from mountain bikers. Please read and sign this petition to Senator Boxer that asks for a more flexible “Back Country Recreation” instead of the ultra-restrictive “Wilderness” designation for much of the land incorporated in the bill.
