04/09/18 Vision Quest and Counting Coup Update

We are set for the event this Saturday the 14th. If you can’t make the reschedule date we will comp you for our Saturday May 12th Trabuco Challenge. To take advantage of this offer here is the link to the application:

http://www.warriorssociety.org/events/TrabucoChallengeApp2018.pdf

Scan it and email it back to me as the deadline to receive transfers is tomorrow, Tuesday April 10th.

Also let me know if you’ll be in the pro or intermediate class.

If you can’t make the event and can’t make the reschedule date email us by Tuesday the 10th and we will remove you from the event so you don’t get a DNS (did not show).

If you did not pick up your packet at the Path you may also pick up your packet the day of the event at the start from 4:30 am to 5:00 am

If you have picked up your packet you will still need to check in at the start by 5:15 am

There will be a shuttle running from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm from the finish line to the the start for those that left their cars there in the morning.

If you are in the Vision Quest you can leave a bag at the start (it must be a throw away as we will not be keeping any items) with any items you want taken to Aid Station 2.

There was a run last weekend in which they parked on Black Star Canyon Road and several cars were broken into. Be sure and not leave any valuables in your car. We will be asking the sheriff to increase patrols during the day.

In 2004 the Warrior’s Society produced a video on the Vision Quest and Counting Coup mountain bike events. It gives a 3D video tour of the course with original music. The video captures the true toughness of the event showing the struggles and triumphs of those participating. For those of you considering one of the few remaining spots this will give you an idea of what to expect on the course.

Here’s the link:

We have one change for those who sign up for the Vision Quest and Counting Coup events. We will be allowing those signed up to sell their spots if they are injured or for personal reasons for up to one (1) month before the event. There will be a $25.00 transfer fee, which will be used for gift cards to be raffled off at Trabuco Challenge Event. We sell out on these events every year and this will give those who miss signing up an opportunity to participate.

These events are part of the King and Queen of the Mountain Series with the Vision Quest being the pro-class and the Counting Coup being the intermediate class. The series final will be the at Trabuco Challenge event.

2. WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACT AS A SUPPORT VOLUNTEER FOR THE COUNTING COUP AND VISION QUEST?

We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to act as support for the Vision Quest and Counting Coup. If you have a 4X4 vehicle, have EMT training (we are only required to have 1 EMT on the course, we have 2 already volunteering but we’d like to have two or more), or a dual sport we’d love to have you as a volunteer.

We will reimburse you for the gas you use acting as support, feed you, and and will give a free comp to the Trabuco Challenge as well as an event t-shirt.

As a reminder, the event is on Saturday, April 7th.
